Practice Information

The team offers many opportunities to learn about sailing and hone one’s skills.  Practices are voluntary for all members, though regular attendance is required for consideration to represent MUST at regattas.  Some members practice three or more times a week, while others practice once a week.  Members sail the Club’s eight 420s, while our team captain coaches us.  The team holds practices geared towards beginners, as well as those focusing on improving boat handling, tactics, and strategic decisions during races.  Land practices are held post- and pre-season when getting on the water isn’t feasible.  These include chalk talks on topics such as sail theory, introduction to racing, advanced racing, boat handling, and knot tying.

Current Spring 2024 Practice:

  • Tuesday through Thursday: Meet in Sendik’s parking lot off 16th @ 3:30 pm, typically off the water between 6:30-7 p.m.

  • Weekend practices: TBD

Practices are normally held at the Milwaukee Yacht Club, located at 1700 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive. Rides to and from campus are provided by members of the team.
